Vila Vita Parc unveils stunning new villa

Part of the resort’s Collection, the Red Chalet is a Belle Époque-style villa launching this August in Armação de Pêra

    – July 19, 2022

Red Chalet, Armação de Pêra, Vila Vita Collection, in Algarve Portugal

Vila Vita Collection – the sister company to clifftop resort Vila Vita Parc – is about to launch its new property, the Red Chalet, located in the heart of Armação de Pêra, on August 1.

Says the company, a leading player in the Algarve’s luxury rental market, the debut of the Red Chalet is “in keeping with the current trend for increased exclusivity and privacy”.

The four-bedroom Red Chalet was built during the turn of the 20th century and inspired by the opulent luxury of the Belle Époque era. Originally known as ‘Chalet dos Caldas e Vasconcelos’, the property remained as a family summer home for almost 80 years, and this sense of familial warmth has been recreated in the Red Chalet.

Vila Vita Collection comprises a number of luxurious villas dotted in prime locations in the Algarve, and the Red Chalet is no exception. Owned and managed by Vila Vita Parc, the villas offer a seamless hotel experience in a private villa setting, with access to a myriad of services including the Vila Vita yacht.

Now listed as a historical building, the property perches directly on the Armação de Pêra seawall, offering guests dramatic ocean views (alongside the quaint church square) and easy access to the beach.

The interior is equally impressive with the Red Chalet’s sumptuous interiors, as the renovation retained as many of the original elements as possible: “the unique wooden flooringantique chandeliers, and a spectacular staircase were all lovingly recreated. The Moroccan influences of the architecture, with geometric designs on the shutters and ceilings, are also elegant reminders of the region’s rich cultural history”.

The two-bedroom Red Chalet (sleeping up to four guests) also benefits from a small annex, the White House, in front of the property that offers a duplex suite with living room and terrace downstairs, and an ensuite bedroom upstairs, as well as a further self-contained studio with bedroom, shower room and balcony.

White-washed wooden floors and details in splashes of colour are recreated throughout the White House to create a calm, contemporary oasis that is perfect for younger members of the family eager for their own space, or families that travel with an au pair.

Guests at the Red Chalet looking for the ultimate luxury break are able to request a private chefwaiting staff, and a personal assistant, as well as take advantage of the exceptional facilities at sister property Vila Vita Parc. These facilities include a Sisley Spa with 14 treatment rooms and a fitness studio offering panoramic floor-to-ceiling views over the resort’s lush gardens11 restaurants (ranging from casual, beachside cuisine to two-Michelin-starred fine dining), a wine cellar that boasts Portugal’s largest private wine collectionseven swimming pools, a private yachthelipadkids’ clubs and programmes for a variety of ages, and a beach club offering a range of water sports.

Rates at the Red Chalet start from €2,500 per night for a minimum stay of four nights.

Armação Beach Club is back this summer

The “laid back atmosphere” of Vila Vita Parc’s Armação Beach Club is back this summer with the reopening of Só Verão restaurant, now offering a totally revamped concept, and a series of themed ‘Sunsets’ between June 12 and August 28.

The ‘Sunsets’ will take place in Praia Dourada’s beach lounge area on Saturdays from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. Says the resort, “these are sure to liven up long weekends in the summer with the vibrant sounds of various renown DJs”.

    Praia Dourada

Opening this week, Só Verão joins Praia Dourada and Arte Náutica restaurants – open all year round -, with an all-day beach proposition. Its novel Essential Kitchen concept includes breakfast and brunch options with pancakes, açaí bowls and eggs any style and natural juices; as well as quick healthy lunches.

For a more leisurely lunch or dinner, Praia Dourada Beach Restaurant’s trendy options include Duck Bao with Hoisin, Jerk Chicken Skewer, Brusteca Rice or a creative selection of Crudos, Ceviche and Sushi, with a take-away option for the latter; or Arte Náutica Beach Restaurant, with more sophisticated choices specialised in fresh fish and seafood, including the famed Mozambique style Prawns.

  • Mizu at Vila Vita Parc

    Mizu at Vila Vita Parc

Japanese fine dining arrives in the Algarve, including authentic robata-grilled food

The new Japanese restaurant, Mizu, at Vila Vita Parc opened in February, following a brief closure for some fine-tuning after a soft opening in December. And, if the initial reaction from hotel guests and outside visitors is anything to go by, this is set to become another top spot at Vila Vita Parc for serious foodies.

Having sampled a few of the dishes during the soft opening, I met up with restaurant manager Catarina Borges, a local Algarvean who has spent the last seven years working on the cutting edge of the London food scene. One of her positions was assistant manager at Roka, the award-winning Robatayaki restaurant on Canary Wharf, providing her with a good idea of what today’s customers expect from a premium Japanese restaurant.

Skilled chefs have been recruited and no expense has been spared on kitting the restaurant out with a state-of-the-art Teppan bar and a Josper Robata grill in the kitchen, fired with Japanese white charcoal. Sushi and sashimi are, of course, an important part of the menu, as are tempura dishes, a variety of Japanese salads and other staples such as a seriously good white Miso soup with Shimeji mushrooms, but it is the Algarve’s first Robata grill that is expected to win over customers the most.

Here, prime cuts such as wild salmon or black cod fillets and Wagyu beef are quickly grilled to perfection, sealing in the flavours. Fish and meat dishes are complemented with others from the Robata grill such as Konasu (baby aubergine with miso and soy) or Shitaki mushroom skewers with citrus and chilli.

The menu is intentionally not extensive, focusing on a relatively small selection of prime fresh ingredients, backed up with a small but carefully chosen selection of 12 Sakes, including a sweet and a sparkling option.
